Archaeological solutions to clients in Kent and the surrounding counties

‘The Great British Dig’ April 9th, 2020, More4. Catch up on All 4 or Darnley Achaeological Sevices’ Richard and Fred made their television debut for Channel 4 in a new archaeological series aiming to explore the archaeology in the back gardens of households througout Great Britan. The pilot episode was presented by Hugh Dennis and focused on a residential street in Maidstone where there had been previous excavations indicating the possible presence of a Roman community.

Roman expert Chloë Duckworth, local historian Simon Elliott and volunteers helped Richard and Fred to plan test pits, interpret the findings and, most importantly, bring the community together. The results were broadcast to great reviews and Strawberry Blond TV are hoping that a series will follow.

Check out the programme to see the team in action and what they eventually uncovered with the help of the residents. Let’s hope you’ll see more of us on our screens in the future!
